Kameraseura ry – A home for photography enthusiasts since 1921
Kameraseura ry is one of Finland’s oldest and largest photography associations, founded in 1921. With nearly 700 members today, we are a vibrant and active community for people passionate about photography – from beginners to advanced hobbyists and professionals.
As a member, you’ll have access to a wide range of activities, including monthly meetings (Helsinki Camera Club), lectures, and hands-on opportunities to develop your skills. We offer excellent facilities for studio and darkroom work, digital editing, photo printing, and organizing exhibitions. All events are intended for members only unless otherwise stated.
In addition to club activities, we offer public courses and webinars open to everyone – with discounted prices for our members.
Membership Benefits
As a member, you can:
- Participate in nearly all club activities at no extra cost
- Access our facilities after completing an introduction course (studio, portable studio kit, darkroom, digital workstations)
- Exhibit your work in our galleries – free for members
- Rent meeting spaces for photography-related gatherings

- Receive membership in the Finnish Association of Camera Clubs (SKsL) and the international photography organization FIAP
- Access the full archive (2013–2024) of Kamera-lehti magazine in digital format
Membership Fees 2025
Joining fee (one-time):
- Regular member: €30
- Youth member (under 24): €5
Annual membership fee (billed per calendar year):
- Regular member: €100 (reduced 25% quarterly, e.g. €25 if joining in October–November)
- Youth member: €24
You can also pay in installments within four months. Facility rental rights begin only after the full fee for your joining year has been paid.
Our Facilities in Helsinki
All our facilities are available for members only and are located at Kaapelitehdas and Runeberginkatu 36, unless otherwise stated. To use any facility, you must either complete an orientation session or demonstrate sufficient prior experience.
- Digital workstations: Free to use; pay only for ink (your own paper required)
- Studio: Requires studio course or equivalent experience
- €15/hour (Sat–Sun), €20/hour (Mon–Fri)
- Darkroom: Available after darkroom course or equivalent experience (€6/day)
- Gallery spaces: Kamera-galleria (members only) and Galleria West (also open to others)
- Meeting room: 45 m², free for members’ photography-related gatherings (max. 40 people)
